Where We Work

Hands Across the Sea is focused on six English-speaking island nations of the Eastern Caribbean: Antigua, St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada. The enthusiasm for reading in the region is very high, but the budget for literacy-building resources is very low. Many children are growing up without access to new, relevant books and a lending library. With your help, we're changing the landscape.

Meet Our People

Meet our frontline Program Officers known as Literacy Links. Trusted leaders in their community and known for their consistent presence, deep knowledge, and tremendous care, creativity, and love, Links are integral to sustaining libraries and literacy programming. Links work directly with students, principals, educators, and with local OECS-led programs, Peace Corps Volunteers, and community groups.

Get Involved

Our grassroots organization invites many hands into the mix. Whether you are packing books stateside, performing Read Alouds for children, holding a local fundraiser, visiting schools on the islands, building shelves for school libraries - it takes a village of committed and loving people to grow the reach and impact of our programs.
